About Us
Dick Maidment
Dick has been a supporter of indie bands for many years, starting his wildly successful show The Stepping Stone in Calgary Alberta. Dick attended WABC broadcasting school in the 1990′s, but soon realised that his problem with authority would not make a career in commercial radio possible. He took a brief hiatis (lets call it a jail term – LOL), but is back at the helm doing the show from the Fiasco Bros. Recording Studios in New Westminster BC. With his new sidekick The Beaver, Dick is showcasing the incredible talents of bands and artists in a talk show format every Monday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm pacific standard time.
If you want to be heard, love indie music as much as we do, and need another reason to crack a cold one on a Monday night, then tune in live every week to the down and dirty sounds of Dick, The Beaver, and whatever indie band guest we have on the show. The show is also broadcast live via webcam. Go to the “LISTEN LIVE” tab for your direct link to the show during airtime!
Sandra Sigfusson (aka The Beaver)
Sandra has over 4 years of internet radio show hosting under her beaver pelt, so stepping into The Stepping Stone was a natural for her, especially since music has always been in her blood. The Beaver started her first all girls band in grade 7. They had a drummer, a guitar player and 2 singers and although she can’t recall if they even had a name or not, it was a riot. The Beaver joined two other bands in high school as the singer, but to this day still can’t play an instrument. She continues to write songs, sing, and record the occassional music pieces. She says she’s tried a thousand times to write rock’n'roll, but it all just comes out country so needless to say she’s not shared anything she’s recorded with Mr. “Absolutely No Fucking Country” Dick. LOL Maybe one day he’ll be drunk enough to listen to the Beaver’s indie projects – when hell freezes over. Hahahahahaa.
Where did the BEAVER name come from? Over the past few years, her girlfriend developed a radio show called Beavertalk, and they were “The Beavers”. The show was a brilliant concept covering topics of dating, relationships and lifestyles. When they parted ways, Sandra hung on to the nickname and Dick thought it was both funny and appropriate to continue on with that label…since Dick & Beaver go together so well!
“I’m loving meeting all these amazingly talented people, and who doesn’t need another reason to crack open a few cold ones on a Monday night?”
On any other day The Beaver is a photographer, videographer & digital artist. You can check out the BEAVER’s work at my RedBubble Site or book her to photograph your band via her personal website. Rock On!
